Artist's Comments

These next few photos are part of a series I titled: "Extinguished Essence" This is the first one and two more to follow in this series. :) :skull:

I was going to submit these to the "Still Life" catagory but I figured people looking for the "Horror and Macabre" might appreciate these more.

Feedback appreciated! :D

The suggester says, "Extinguished Essence 01 by ~Aleuranthropy is one of the best still life photography shots I have come across in a long time! The lighting is gorgeous and the contrast illuminates wonderfully the details in the skull and books. Also allows easy reading of the watch without any annoying glare from the light source. The smoke from the recently extinguished candle adds wonderful atmosphere to the piece and you can smell the room and age of the objects". (Suggested by =wolf-grrl and Featured by ^RockstarVanity)

I think this is the best composition of all three. In this one the watch looks like it might be part of the scene naturally, whereas the other two watch placements feel a little forced. Nothing glaring or ugly, mind you.

I love this series. And I'll say it again, this one is my favorite.

Good job.

I say it the way I see it
:iconaleuranthropy:
Ah, yeah I see what you mean with the watch placement. I'll have to keep that in mind for next time when doing placements!

And I do agree with everyone saying that this is the best of the 3! I have to say though I'm getting more used to my camera and the settings and I'll be practicing even more. :)

Thanks for critique! :D

Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see what you do next.

Actually I do have a cat skull, dog, ram, squirrel, and the human ones of course.

:P

I didn't kill any animals (or humans!) to get them they were all found. The ram skull was bought at a shop in Montana, and the human skulls were bought from eBay. :D
:icontheamazingtumnus:
Human skulls on eBay...hmmm...sounds so iffy to me...that would be an efficient way for a serial killer to dispose of body parts...
